It all came crashing down when an unexpected illness in my family caused me to drop everything. I suddenly had to leave my practice for days and sometimes weeks at a time.

I flew back and forth between the east and west coast 6 times in 7 months. Obviously during those absences I was unable to see patients (and earn any money!) -- for up to three weeks at a time.

My family emergency caused a significant plunge in my income. And as a result of all of my traveling, I also accumulated a bunch of expenses (which I threw on a credit card).
