Emperors College of Oriental Medicine

Academically, the school is top notch.

Aside from the standard classes required to sit for the CA boards, Emperors offers classes in Orthapedics, Dermatology, Pediatrics and Gynecology, as well as 3 nutrition classes. My instructors were all fantastic, and tried to prepare us for clinical practice as well as passing the boards.

I also really appreciated the diverse cultural experience. I went to school with South American, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Iranian students, among others. The faculty was also very diverse.

But what separates Emperors from the crowd is the clinic experience. The clinic gets enough patients that we didn't have to treat in teams. Also the externships were pretty amazing. UCLA, the Venice Free Clinic, the Arthur Ashe foundation and others. I also heard from a classmate that there is now a Veteran's Clinic on campus.

A great education!

I transferred from another acupuncture school in Los Angeles because I did not feel very supported by the staff and faculty at my original school and I am so glad I did! In addition to a really warm staff and student body at Emperor's, I think I'm also getting a better education than I did at the first school. My teachers are excellent with tons of experience and knowledge and always willing to answer questions. I really like the selection and scheduling of classes at Emperor's. They have a really strong western medicine department which I know will help me in my eventual practice and I have been able to take electives in 4-needle technique, 5 element theory and jeffrey yuen style TCM. I think I'm going to be a really well rounded practitioner when I graduate and if I had to do it again I would just start at Emperor's.
