Janet Konefal

by John L.

Janet Konefal is the 1st person who ever did acupuncture on me.

Last I knew she was at the Univ. of Miami School of Medicine. I met her at an NLP workshop and she had been trained to work with drug addiction and prisoners.

She was very much a pioneer in developing a protocol for working with Addiction and Aids patients. She is also a terrific NLP trainer! With us at an NLP workshop (this was maybe in 1988-89) she only used points in the ear to demonstrate how sticking needles in your ear could contribute to a sense of calm and relaxation.

Apparently some Acupuncturist do not use ear points as extensively as Janet. I had to search a good bit to find any one who could do what I was talking about. She deserves mention. Janet is Great!

Janet Konefal is, without doubt, my heroine. She is capable of helping more people in one session than most can in 50. It is a real shame that western medicine does not give her the credit she deserves. With a little support from her institution, she could achieve even greater things than she has already.

Dr. Janet Konefal is the new Assistant Dean for Complementary and Integrative Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where her current area of research is in Meta-Energetics, the application of acupressure for the enhancement of psychological states.

Dr. Konefal's formal training in acupuncture was back in the late 70's early 80's when tutorials were still accepted. She did her tutorial with the late ("magnificent") Ralph Alan Dale, Ph.D., Ed.D, A.P. (who Dr. Konefal describes as "definitely one of my heroes"). Dr. Konefal passed the Florida State Acupuncture Exam in 1981 and holds other degrees which include: B.S., M.A., M.S.Ed, Ph.D., & MPH. She is Certified or Licensed in Acupuncture, Mental Health Counseling and Learning Disabilities and continues to be a great contributor to the field and profession of Acupuncture.
