Lisa Rohleder
Lisa Rohleder has paved the way for hundreds of acupuncturists to offer our services to people of average and working-class incomes.
Lisa was painfully aware that her friends and family could not afford acupuncture at the standard rate of $60. So in 2002, she opened her community acupuncture clinic in Portland, Oregon. Thinking outside the box, Lisa realized that she could treat any condition by using distal treatment strategies. As such, she reasoned that her patients could remain fully clothed and be treated together in the same room. By treating many patients at once -- just like Miriam Lee -- Lisa Rohleder realized that she could reduce her fees to prices which her community could afford: $15 - $35.
Furthermore, when approached by acupuncturists from coast-to-coast who wanted to learn more about her clinic, Lisa and her partners at Working Class Acupuncture openly offered all of the behind-the-scenes details about how to replicate their model. Co-founding the Community Acupuncture Network in 2006, Lisa has helped launch over 150 Community Acupuncture clinics in the United States and abroad.
Lisa has written books, created videos, and offered workshops at very little profit to herself, all for the sake of bringing this barefoot medicine back to the people. Lisa has been recognized by Utne Reader, NPR's Marketplace, The New York Times, and other national media outlets as a pioneer in our field of acupuncture.
Because of Lisa Rohleder, thousands of patients have experienced the healing benefits of acupuncture and are living a better life because of it.
