Warning...education is not high caliber and suggestions, grievances to administration could turn against you. If you'd like a quality education and professionally run school, look elsewhere.

Midwest College of Oriental Medicine - Chicago
It's an environment of inappropriate harassment from administrators to students and from some students to patients in the school clinic.
It's expensive, and if you borrow to finance your education, keep in mind there are no staff acupuncturist positions. What the school fails to mention about their graduates being "hospital employees" is that those students who are hospital employees are either nurses or physical therapists--and not practicing acupuncture at their places of employment. Also, credits don't transfer to any other college/university, so buyer beware!

I would rate it at Zero stars by: Anonymous
This school is riddled with so many academic and administrative problems. Some of the male instructors sexually harass some of the students, one instructor spent class time talking about his wife, his girlfriend, and his divorce--not something wholly appropriate to learning. Another made bigoted and sexist comments in class. One instructor/administrator--you could tell he was a product of the 60's drug nirvana craze. When I was a student, the clinic can be a good learning place, however, I have had female patients tell me that some male students made sexually inappropriate remarks to them, and one even called a patient at home and asked her out. When I reported this, nothing was done. One student even inappropriately touched a female patient. This comes as no surprise as one of the faculty members was arrested for inappropriately touching female patients in his private practice...nothing came of it because that former instructor, when out on bond, fled the country.

I personally witnessed this school's administration exhibit prejudice towards students, tolerate sexual harrasment, and encourage and allow certain "favorite" students to cheat. The education itself is more or less ok - after all, I passed my boards - but the administration makes the place a miserable place to go to school. The only real plus is that the classes are offered on nights and weekends (very important when comparing to Pacific) and you can actually graduate in three years as opposed to four or five. In the student clinic, the patients are very diverse, which is also an advantage, although I have heard that [since i graduated] clinic procedures have been altered and that now it is less of a learning environment as much as a way to make sure the school is not liable in a lawsuit. I would NOT recommend this school.
